Position Summary
As a member of our team, the Laboratory Associate will perform a variety of sample preparation and analysis procedures to produce whole genome physical maps from a wide range of bacteria. The Laboratory Associate will regularly perform data analysis for map assembly and initial quality testing using a wide range of Bioinformatics tools. The Laboratory Associate is expected to follow validated experimental procedures with occasional direct supervision from a group leader.
Primary Job Functions
• Prepare samples and perform tasks according to Company SOPs and cGMP guidelines.
• Perform high molecular weight DNA extraction from bacterial cells using microbiology and molecular biology methods.
• Maintain a laboratory notebook and complete all documentation according to Company SOPs.
• Communicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instruction.
• Cooperate with coworkers within an organized team environment and work.
• Manage time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frame.
• Perform work assignments accurately, timely and in a safe manner.
• Review and compile results from laboratory procedures.
• Effectively communicate project status to production leader.
Education/Skills/Attributes Required
• BS in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry or related discipline.
• Up to 2 years laboratory experience. Previous experience in a cGMP laboratory strongly desired.
• Ability to employ a broad range of skills including microbiology, molecular biology and/or bioinformatics.
• Flexibility to occasionally work varied hours.
• Ability to successfully interact with co-workers, vendors and customers.
• Knowledge of and ability to work in a chemical lab environment, which will require working with skin irritants, lung irritants, electrical equipment, sharp instruments, toxic materials, and hazardous waste. (Safety procedures will be followed to limit exposure.)
• Lifting/carrying objects of 5-15 lbs. on a weekly basis.
• Lifting/carrying objects of 16-50+ lbs. intermittently.

LABORATORY ASSISTANT I – MANUFACTURING

Position Summary
As a member of our team, The Laboratory Assistant I – Manufacturing will perform a variety of procedures to produce product for sale as well as internal service business and R&D consumption. The Laboratory Assistant I – Manufacturing will be responsible for tracking process yields and participating in process improvement activities. The Laboratory Assistant I – Manufacturing is expected to follow validated procedures with occasional direct supervision from a group leader.
Primary Job Functions
• Manufacture product and perform tasks according to Company SOPs and cGMP guidelines
• Complete all documentation according to Company SOPs
• Recommend and participate in process improvement activities
• Communicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instructions

Education/Skills/Attributes Required
• High School Diploma with at least 1 year laboratory experience. Previous experience in a cGMP laboratory strongly desired.
• Prefer an Associate degree in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry or related discipline with at least 6 months laboratory experience.
• Ability to employ a range of skills including microbiology, molecular biology and/or bioinformatics.

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced marketing professional for the position of Product Manager to support the commercial organization. Previous experience coordinating product development through launch is required, and both instrumentation and reagent experience is strongly desired. This individual would be expected to interact with customers and the sales force to drive demand for OpGen’s proprietary technology. Experience in sequencing is strongly preferred.
Primary Job Functions
• Develop and execute marketing tactics such as direct mail, advertising, customer seminars, e-marketing and, social media.
• Coordinate tradeshow plan to address target market segments, serve as point of contact for optimal execution and manage the lead generation and after show follow-up process.
• Maintain a highly effective and current web site.
• Develop marketing plans that are both strategic and involve tactical execution to achieve product awareness, demand creation and penetration into target markets.
• Coordinate cross functional team (R&D, production, QA, engineering) timeline to ensure on-time product launch.
• Work with internal research and development to ensure that products and services meet customer needs and requirements.
• Support the needs of the sales organization with effective sales tools, marketing collateral, product pricing and training.
• Maintain CRM system lead funnel, provide metrics to sales organization.
Education/Skills/Attributes Required
• BA / BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Biology, with MS or MBA preferred.
• 5-12 years experience in life science marketing, including product launch experience.
• Experience in the life science sequencing or genomics market strongly preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to effectively articulate complex, technical information to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required. The ability to successfully interact with co-workers, customers and vendors is critical.
• Must be able to utilize appropriate techniques to analyze information and make sound technical and business decisions.
• Strong planning and organizing skills.
• Ability to multitask and appropriately prioritize.
• Requires some travel (35%), including international travel.
