Benefits Overview

OpGen is dedicated to offering competitive benefits to employees. These benefits are designed to offer employees a menu of options so that each employee may select benefits most meaningful to his/her personal situation.
Medical
The medical plan offered by OpGen is designed to provide you and your dependents with comprehensive care. Prescription drug coverage is also included under the medical plan. Employees pay a portion of premiums, and can elect to have their portion paid on a pre-tax basis. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
Dental
The dental plan offered by OpGen is designed to provide you and your dependents with comprehensive dental care, including orthodontic coverage for dependent children. Employees pay a portion of premiums, and can elect to have their portion paid on a pre-tax basis. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
OpGen employees can participate in a Health Care FSA and/or Dependent Care FSA. These accounts allow the employee to pay for eligible health care expenses that are not covered by their medical, dental, or vision plans or eligible dependent care expenses, on a pre-tax basis up to an annual maximum amount.
401K
OpGen's Retirement Savings Plan (401k) gives employees the opportunity to invest for their future by allowing contributions to a traditional pre-tax 401(k) plan, and/or after tax Roth 401(k) plan. Employees may contribute up to the IRS maximum allowed each year.
Income Replacement
In order to financially protect an employee not able to work due to injury or illness, OpGen provides the following income replacement coverages; Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Workers Compensation (for work incurred injuries).
Life Insurance
All OpGen employees receive a Basic Life/AD&D benefit upon hire. An Optional Life Benefit is also available for employees, their spouse, and dependent(s).
Work & Life Balance
A core value for OpGen is providing work/life balance for employees. The following benefits are designed to assist employees in managing an appropriate work/life balance:
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
Employees start accruing PTO hours upon hire. PTO can be used for vacation, sick or other paid time off from work. Accrual rates are based upon an employee's status and years of service. - Holidays
OpGen provides 12 paid holidays each calendar year. - Employee Assistance Program
All OpGen employees, their spouses and dependent children are eligible to utilize a confidential Employee Assistance Program that can help you find solutions for the everyday challenges of work and home as well as for more serious issues involving emotional and physical well-being. - Additional Benefits
Additional Benefits include Ongoing Training and Career Development Programs, Employee Stock Option Plan, Employee Discount Program, Bereavement Leave, Family Medical Leave, Military Leave, time off for Jury Duty, Voluntary Benefits and access to a Credit Union.
