Position Summary
Working within the Operations group the Manufacturing Engineer II will support the on-going manufacture of Argus system disposables, identify and implement process improvements and transfer and qualify processes from R&D. The Manufacturing Engineer II will develop process controls and performance metrics – monitor and report on those systems to aid in overall process improvement efforts – and assist in identifying and driving product and process cost reductions. The position will participate in and support manufacturing process R&D activities.
Primary Job Functions
• Optimize manufacturing processes. Develop and/or transfer appropriate process controls and metrics. Communicate manufacturing performance metrics throughout organization.
• Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements and drive cost reduction opportunities throughout Operations group.
• Assist in development, validation and transfer of processes for the manufacture of disposable components of the OpGen Argus product line.
• Identify and qualify suppliers of the disposable components of the Argus product line.
• Assist in general product development and engineering functions as required.
• Champion and drive process improvement throughout the organization.
Education/Skills/Attributes Required
• BS in Engineering or Biomedical Engineering or other scientific/engineering discipline.
• Minimum of two years directly related job experience.
• Prior experience in manufacturing process development
• Experience qualifying and transferring processes in a product manufacturing organization
• Experience developing and implementing effective system process controls
• Experience identifying and delivering cost reductions in materials and processes
• Working knowledge of CAD/CAM systems preferred
• Self-motivated with good time management skills / detail oriented
• Good documentation and presentation skills using MS Office suite
• Experience with standard wet chemistry laboratory techniques and equipment
• Experience with MS Office
• Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
• Able to work effectively in a team setting – collaborate with individuals from other areas of organizational responsibility
• Demonstrated ability to communicate within the broad range of the organization – from lab/manufacturing technicians to senior management
• Able to act and perform independently within assigned area of responsibility
• Collect and communicate key performance data with respect to manufacturing processes
• Understanding and experience with using basic descriptive statistics – experience with standard statistical analysis computer packaged preferred
• Experience with development and implementation of process performance metrics
