Alexander Saeed

Vice President, Information Technology and Bioinformatics

Mr. Saeed leads OpGen’s efforts to develop integrated systems for data management, analysis, and visualization, in addition to technical program management. During his 24 years as a bioinformatics professional, his portfolio has included the development of commercial and open-source data analysis suites, web applications, and public databases, as well as data analysis for gene expression, proteomics, and genome sequencing studies. Before joining OpGen in March 2012, Mr. Saeed directed the Bioinformatics department of the Pathogen Functional Genomics Resource Center at the J. Craig Venter Institute, and held prior bioinformatics positions at The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has an extensive background in teaching and community outreach, and taught programming and bioinformatics courses for many years as an instructor at The Johns Hopkins University and Montgomery College.

Mr. Saeed has a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University.
