Job Overview

The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) represents OpGen to potential and existing commercial and government hospital, life science, healthcare and public health clients in his/her assigned territory within North America. The primary mission of the ISR is to identify, contact and secure meetings for the Business Development Director (DBD) to present OpGen’s products and other solutions related to them. These include all available OpGen systems (Unyvero and Acuitas). The ISR is responsible for meeting and exceeding the number of outreach activities and securing follow-up appointments as described by sales and marketing leadership. Call points may include laboratory leadership, clinicians, Infectious Disease Pharmacists and other individuals responsible for the diagnostic and clinical use of OpGen’s products and services. This is an inside sales position based either in the Rockville, MD, facility or remotely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cold calling, making outbound calls to potential clients.
  • Research accounts to identify key players and generate interested leads.
  • Implement sales tactics to initiate calls and meetings. Primary responsibility for early-stage prospecting activity to increase the overall sales funnel to meet sales goals and drive growth.
  • Prospect and implement strategies to engage hospital systems via microbiology departments, infectious disease physicians, infectious disease pharmacists, pulmonologists, intensivists, and antibiotic stewardship committee members, etc.
  • Communicate the clinical and economic benefits of the Unyvero and Acuitas systems versus current conventional microbiology methods.
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop a sales strategy for the defined regions.
  • Work closely with marketing to provide real-time feedback from customers aligned with long term strategy and executable field tactics.
  • Qualify leads from campaigns, conferences, literature references, etc.
  • Route qualified leads and opportunities to the appropriate sales representative for further development and closure.
  • Accurately and regularly enter and track all contacts through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Prepare adequate and timely reports and communications for internal stakeholders. Manage and report activities and pipeline development.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company policy and within the guidelines of OpGen’s Quality System.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of sales or sales related experience required. Experience working with CRM systems preferred.
  • Preferably experience selling molecular diagnostic equipment or assays/tests, diagnostic medical devices/capital equipment to hospitals.
  • Preferably experience with clinical pharmacology, infectious disease, microbiology or specialty experience (oncology, surgery, nephrology, neurology, ICU/CCU) preferred.
  • Alternative experience in related sales discipline will be considered, i.e. B2B sales, pharmaceutical sales, distribution sales, etc.

  • Must have the ability to call, connect and interact with potential clients; make and manage many outbound calls per day.

Employment Type

Full-time. Eligible for additional compensation based on ISR Variable Compensation Plan.
